As far as I know there is no claim block in the trader area so building near it after the xml changes are made should be possible. Set traderarea'False' and reduce all protection values to 0 that should remove the trader protection and disable the teleport feature.
Correcting outdated info and stats is a big help. If you are on a PC you can modify the prefabs.xml file. input word trader on the top and it will give you a list with all traders on the map, clicking any of those will immediately teleport you to the trader, voila you know where the trader is located.
